Though she lives in busy, brash Los Angeles, gamine country lass Leslie Stevens manages to find room for contemplation, and a pace so slow it's almost static on this, her third long-player. She channels the wistful, lovesick and naive personalities of her country contemporaries - the likes of Dolly Parton - to such an extent that actually, there are very few references to the current time period.
Friendlier, and more genuine, than chart-topping country singers of the moment, Stevens and her cruisy back-up badgers deliver 11 inoffensive wee ditties. Some, like Old Timers and Don Juan even invite toe-tapping listeners to square dance.
