Here's a turn-up. Kravitz - who has released some self-indulgent stinkers in the past - returns with his best album since 1993's Are You Gonna Go My Way.
While the wailing, hard-strutting rock remains, songs like Come On Get It and the title track are infused with serious funk and soul (like Mr Cab Driver, only more funked-up and Blaxploitation inspired).
And then there's the dancehall hot stepper Boongie Drop and vocally the smooth and sweet Liquid Jesus does Marvin Gaye proud, but as diverse and wild as his ninth album gets it never loses focus. As a return to form goes, it's impressive stuff.
