It might come as a surprise that this is Holy Ghost!'s first record. Having worked with the likes of MGMT and LCD Soundsystem, the electro-pop outfit hardly had anything to prove, other than perhaps that such "veterans" could sound so fresh.
This self-titled debut might not be ground-breaking, but it is calculated, spacious and clever, as well as irresistible fun. Creative juices flow through Say My Name, which uses its unfaltering disco beat to build a paranoia that turns to exuberance, while opening track Do It, Again, uses the simplest of disco beats, lyrics and warped synths to create quite a spectacle.
