The Travis frontman's debut album sounds, well, a lot like the Travis frontman playing most of his own instruments. There are Celtic violins, those mushy lyrics and that warm, infallible voice that makes fans melt when he performs Sing, but, like most Travis albums, it hangs by just a few wieldy songs.
In this case it's the stirring piano of the opener In the Morning the cello-driven closing track Moonshine, and Sing Me to Sleep featuring Neko Case's tender croon.
Unfortunately elsewhere the ballads are just a little soggy.
