Mr D-a-double-l-a-s may have a cool and mellow nonchalance to his rhymes, and the production and beats are first rate, but his sophomore album The Rose Tint tells Dallas' story (in a Kiwi accent): his determination to take his music to the world, breaking out of New Zealand, moving to New York, and that's what sticks.
When he says "my money's on me" in Take a Picture, I'm gonna put my money on him too.
Released digitally (for free) in May, this deluxe package is the first physical release, and it includes five slightly darker new tracks (Feel Like Oasis is a highlight) plus a disc of instrumentals.
Great if you want to try out your own rhyming skills, but equally cool to hear the intricacies of the production - samples of everything from Average White Band to The Chemical Brothers have been used.
