American pop genius of the 1960s redoes American pop genius of the 1920-30s, complete with Wilson completing two unfinished Gershwin songs. It relocates Summertime from the South Carolina of Porgy and Bess to Southern California, while I Got Rhythm's rock 'n' roll plod suggests what he's actually got is one of those old Beach Boys' car songs stuck in low gear. Likeable for its epic easy-listening lushness but one for Wilson completists only.
