Rating: 4/5
Verdict: Worthwhile grouping of tunes from the wider world and even NZ
This powerful world music collection urges you to chase the sun as it rises and sets around the globe, spurring salute-the-sun warrior dances on raggedy coastlines and dirty underground parties in heaving cities.
Compiled by Charlie Gillet before he died earlier this year, the tracks move seemlessly between Mali musicians Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba, who do not use Western instruments yet still manage to emulate American blues, R&B legend Allen Toussaint from New Orleans, heavy Puerto Rican hip-hop crew Calle 13 and our own Fat Freddy's Drop.
