A collaboration between African and Cuban musicians was what the Buena Vista Social Club was originally meant to be, 14 years ago. But the players from Mali didn't turn up.
So it's better late than never, and while Afrocubism doesn't quite have the rump-rattling appeal and celebratory energy of BVSC, songs like epic Karamo and Dakan's crazed clip-clop chaos are just as heart-warming.
