The 30-year-old singer met current husband Eddie Cibrian in 2009 while filming TV movie 'Northern Lights' together and subsequently left their partners and filed for divorce and LeAnn says writing her latest album has been a "cathartic process".
She told ITV's 'Loose Women': "We were both married to other people and we went through the whole affair and thank God it turned out, it came out in my music and I really didn't set out to do that. It was very cathartic.
"Life happens and it was amazing, even though it was crappy at times, but it gave me a lot to write about and I took my time.
"I wrote nine of the 13 songs on the record. It's personal but at the same time I feel like I'm not the only one that has been through what I've been through."
LeAnn also claimed telling her own side of the story through her music has been "liberating".
