Adele's estranged father speaks out

Adele's estranged father claims the singer won't let him meet her three-month-old son.

The 'Skyfall' singer's father Mark Evans - who claims she cut him out of her life after he gave an interview about her in 2011 - has hit out at the 24-year-old Oscar nominee for refusing to allow him to meet his grandson Angelo James, who was born in October.

He told The Mail On Sunday newspaper: "I've never said a bad word about Adele and I'm absolutely gutted she's cut me out of her life."

"I've left messages on her phone, I've written to her and I've sent her birthday and Christmas cards but it's like I'm dead to her."

"I'm not interested in her celebrity status or her money. I just want my daughter back and I want to be a proper granddad to the little one."

Mark also revealed that he only found out he was becoming a grandfather through a newspaper.

He said: "Not only did I hear I was going to be a granddad for the first time via the media, I found out the same way that she's calling the baby Angelo James."

"I'd hoped so much that she'd put my late dad's name, John, in there somewhere, but alas it looks as if it is not going to be."

"I'm not sure why she's chosen James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from. It's very LA, isn't it?"

Despite their rift, the singer's dad insists that he's very proud of his daughter but he won't be watching her when she performs at the Oscars on February 24.

He said: "I know she'll win because she's brilliant but I won't be there and I won't even watch it on television. I'd break down and fall apart."
