Adele puts off touring for a decade to raise son

Tickets for her 107-date arena tour sold out in seconds, and she wowed the nation with a heartfelt headline set at Glastonbury, but if you've not seen Adele live this year, you may be waiting 10 years to see her again.

The 28-year-old will reportedly take a lengthy break from touring following the end of her Adele Live 2016 tour in November to bring up her son, Angelo

Adele, born Adele Adkins in Tottenham, has told friends she wants to relocate to the US and become a full-time mum.

A source told The Sun:

"Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life.

She has brought him everywhere with her on tour but as he is starting school next year, he won't be able to join her any more.

Adele doesn't want to miss a moment of Angelo growing up and it's an easy decision for her to give up touring for him.

Right now she is saying she won't do another massive world tour like the current one for another 10 years."

The report claims that Adele might be open to a Las Vegas residency, which would allow her to remain in one location and could prove very lucrative. Artists such as Elton John, Celine Dion and Rob Stewart earn as much as £385,000 (NZ$697,000) per show in the city, while Britney Spears has renewed her critically acclaimed Piece of Me residency in Las Vegas until 2017 while bringing up two sons.

Adele earned £85 million (NZ$153 million) last year after the release of her third album, 25, and it is expected that she will earn a further £100 million (NZ$181 million) from ticket sales from her global tour.

She has never been shy about her reluctance to get on the road. During a recent show in Philadelphia she told the crowd: "I don't know how many of you know this but I don't really consider myself to be much of a touring artist. I've never gelled very well with touring as I'm a real homebody."

Adele's representatives offered no comment.
