DUBLIN - Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, best known for his role as English King Henry VIII, was arrested by Irish police at Dublin airport after being drunk and disorderly, Irish media reported today.
Irish media said he had been arrested on Sunday at the airport after breaching the peace and was later released on bail.
Rhys Meyers, 30, was due to fly back to London after appearing on an Irish chat show but was refused entry onto a flight.
Asked to comment, a police spokesman said: "A 30-year old male was arrested yesterday afternoon at Dublin airport. He was charged with public order offences."
The spokesman said the man would appear before a Dublin court next month without giving further details.
Rhys Meyers won a Golden Globe award for his hip-swiveling title role in the 2005 mini-series Elvis. He recently starred in the historical drama The Tudors as the lusty English monarch. He was in Dublin to promote his new film August Rush.
