The 500th episode of The Simpsons was the most watched show on channel Four, with more than 240,000 people tuning in.
The milestone episode, which screened on Sunday, was viewed by 144,300 18-49 year-olds - the channel's target demographic, and 240,500 viewers over the age of five.
The channel has seen a 40 per cent increase in primetime viewership since it launched on Waitangi Weekend last year.
In Four's first month on air it was watched by an average of 33,100 18-49 year olds, compared with 46,500 for April this year.
