When does 48 hours suddenly become 49 hours? When the annual 48Hours film-making challenge happens to fall on the weekend that daylight savings comes to an end.
Yep, this year, the weekend of mad writing, shooting, and editing runs from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7 (slightly earlier than usual), which means the teams will get an extra hour to wrap things up and get their short films across the finish line.
Registration is now open, so keen film-makers, both amateur and professional, can head to 48hours.co.nz to enter and join more than 10,000 people across New Zealand in what has become a very impressive annual event, with many past winners now carving out careers within the industry.
Sir Peter Jackson will once again be on hand to pick wildcard entries, which will go straight into the national grand final, while other teams will still have the chance to see their films on the big screen in each region - at least once.
And school teams are encouraged, with two entries for the price of one.
