Director Judd Apatow thinks 3D sex scenes would be a cinematic step too far.
The movie director, who has previously worked on films including Forgetting Sarah Marshall – where Jason Segel exposed his manhood - and Knocked Up, believes intimate scenes filmed using the technology is unnecessary.
He said: "I don't want everything in 3D because I don't want to be in the middle of everything.
"Sometimes I want to be distant from it... I don't think anyone wants to see Jason Segel's penis in 3D."
An increasing number of films are now being made in 3D, including the recent box office successes Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. is being lined up to star in sci-fi movie Gravity, which is to be filmed in 3D.
The Iron Man star will play the lead role in the movie, which tells the story of a Downey Jr's character and a female astronaut stranded in space when the outpost they live on is hit by a damaged satellite.
