As Shortland Street turns 25, New Zealand on Screen opens the archives to bring us 25 years of trivia.

Robbie Magasiva joined the Shortland Street cast in 2009, playing Dr. Maxwell Avia through to 2012. He briefly returned to Ferndale in 2015 to attend the wedding of his on-screen cousin - and real-life brother - Vinnie Kruse (Pua Magasiva).

Here the Samoan actor recalls how Maxwell was originally meant to be an outdoorsy palagi, and how Shortland Street is a "totally different beast".
