KEY POINTS:
Dukes of Hazzard actor John Schneider has become the latest victim of false bidding on an internet auction.
Last week, Schneider made headlines when he sold the General Lee for US$13.5 million on ebay.
However, William Fisher, who placed the winning bid has failed to pay the hefty price tag, reports TMZ.
Schneider has lodged a complaint with ebay and a spokesman for the actor said he was "looking into his options".
"We cannot calculate the point where legitimate bidders would have topped out if it were not for fraudulent bidding, but it seems to have been in the range of [US]US$5 million (US$6.8 million)," the spokesman told TMZ.
The 1969 Dodge Charger car was not featured in the original Dukes of Hazzard show but carries the signatures of the cast.
The sale was the second-highest price ever paid for a car. The top car auction spot is held by the 1987 sale of a 1931 Bugatti for US$15 million.
