Steak and noodles are a handy and quick dinner combination that needs not be heavy. This dish uses soba noodles made from buckwheat flour, making them light with a nutty flavour, and delicious served cold with lean, rare Silver Fern Farms Flat-Iron Steaks. Ingredients
2 | Limes, zest and juice |
1 ½ Tbsp | Mirin |
1 piece | Fresh ginger, 3cm, finely grated |
3 Tbsp | Soy sauce |
2 Tbsp | Sesame oil |
1 packet | Soba noodles, approx 300g (Main) |
1 packet | Silver Fern Farms Flat Iron Steaks (Main) |
1 drizzle | Oil |
3 cups | Asian salad greens, such as mizuna and tatsoi |
¼ cup | Chopped fresh coriander |
1 | Finely chopped spring onion |
3 Tbsp | Sesame seeds, toasted |
Directions
- Place all the dressing ingredients - lime zest and juice, mirin, ginger, soy sauce and sesame oil - in a bowl and whisk to combine.
- Cook the noodles according to packet instructions, rinse under cold water, drain, then combine with the dressing.
- Heat a frying pan. Drizzle Silver Fern Farms Beef Flat-Iron Steaks with oil and season with salt and pepper. Fry 3 minutes each side. Remove and rest, covered for 5 minutes.
- Slice the steak into thin strips and toss gently through the noodles with the salad leaves, coriander and spring onion. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
