Ingredients
125 g | Butter, softened |
½ cup | Caster sugar |
1 tsp | Ground cinnamon |
½ tsp | Ground nutmeg |
½ tsp | Allspice, ground |
½ tsp | Vanilla essence |
1 | Egg, lightly beaten |
2 cups | Plain flour |
1 Tbsp | Cocoa powder |
Icing
1 ½ cups | Icing sugar |
2 Tbsp | Warm water, use up to 3 Tbsp |
1 sprinkle | Silver cachous |
Directions
- Cream the butter, caster sugar, spices and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat well. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder. Mix until just combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 5mm thickness. Cut into tree shapes. Place on the baking tray.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, until crisp. Cool on a wire rack.
- Sift the icing sugar and combine with enough water to make a piping consistency. Pipe around the edges of the trees and decorate with the cachous.
