Ingredients
1 cup | Milk |
3 Tbsp | Golden syrup (Main) |
2 cups | Flour |
3 tsp | Baking powder |
¾ cup | Sugar |
1 pinch | Salt |
1 cup | Raisins |
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180C. Position oven rack in middle of oven. Line the base of an 8x18 centimetre loaf tin and lightly grease.
- Warm the milk and syrup to just combine. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl and stir in the sugar and raisins.
- Stir the cool milk mixture into the flour to combine well. Turn into prepared tin. Bake at 180C for about 1 hour.
- Allow to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. The loaf is cooked when it looks well risen, set and well coloured. Test by putting a fine skewer into the centre of the loaf. It will come out clean when cooked.
