Autumn fruit plus store-bought pastry equals a simple sweet treat.
Ingredients
3 | Pears, you may need 4 (Main) |
½ | Oranges, zested, plus a squeeze of juice |
½ tsp | Sugar |
1 sprinkle | Chinese five spice |
6 | Flaky puff pastry squares, about 10cm x 10cm (Main) |
1 | Beaten egg, to make an egg wash |
1 sprinkle | Granulated white sugar, for the tops |
Directions
- Peel, core and thinly slice the pears into a bowl. Add the orange zest, ½ tsp sugar, a sprinkle of five spice powder and a squeeze of orange juice, and mix to combine.
- Place a healthy spoonful of the pear mix on 10cm x 10cm flaky puff pastry squares, egg-wash the edges, and fold over into triangles.
- Crimp the edges, egg-wash the tops and prick with a fork. Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar and bake until golden in a 215C oven.
