Gai lan, also known as Chinese broccoli, has blue-green leaves and white buds. It is great for stir-frying, steaming and boiling. It is often served steamed, with oyster sauce.
Ingredients
½ cup | Oyster sauce |
1 2/5 kgs | Gai lan, chopped (Main) |
½ tsp | Sesame oil |
2 Tbsp | Soy sauce |
2 Tbsp | Sesame seeds |
Directions
- Cook the gai lan, covered, in a large saucepan of boiling water for 2-3 minutes or until tender. Drain and place on serving plates.
- To toast sesame seeds, place them on a baking tray and cook in a preheated 180C oven for 4-5 minutes or until light golden. Alternatively, dry-toast them in a frying pan over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes.
- Combine the oyster sauce, sesame oil and soy sauce in a bowl and spoon it over the gai lan and sprinkle with sesame seeds to serve.
