The clever team at Food Nation have kindly shared this yummy dumpling recipe with us. What makes it so special? It is completely vegan, using their plant-based Mushroom & Hemp Magic Mince. For vegetarians, vegan, flexitarians and anyone looking for a healthy meat alternative, this is one of the tastiest plant-based minces around.
Ingredients
500 g | Mushroom & Hemp Magic Mince (Main) |
2 cans | Garlic cloves, crushed |
2 tsp | Ginger, finely grated |
1 | Baby carrot, or you could use bamboo shoots |
2 tsp | Mirin |
2 tsp | Soy sauce |
1 tsp | Sesame oil |
¼ cup | Fresh coriander, leaves and stalks, roughly chopped |
2 | Spring onions, finely chopped |
1 packet | Dumpling wrappers |
3 Tbsp | Vegetable oil |
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly. Place a heaped teaspoon of mixture in a wrapper, brush water around the edges and seal the dumpling by pinching the edges together.
- To cook the dumplings, heat 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat until hot. Add the dumplings and cook until the bottom turns golden brown, add 3/4 cup water, and cover. Cook 8-10 mins until most of the water has evaporated, take off the lid and cook until completely evaporated. Serve with chilli and soy sauce.
Tips: Alternatively make as above, omitting the wrappers and fry heaped teaspoons of mixture in a little oil in a frying pan until golden brown, garnish and serve hot with a chilli sauce.
