Baking your own bread is a rare indulgence in this age of gourmet bakery store delights, but make the effort with this flatbread recipe and you'll taste the difference. Makes 12.
Ingredients
1 tsp | Sugar |
2 tsp | Salt |
1 cup | Water, warm |
3 tsp | Active dried yeast |
500 g | Plain flour (Main) |
3 tsp | Cumin seeds |
1 Tbsp | Sumac powder |
½ cup | Olive oil |
Directions
- Whisk together the salt, sugar, yeast and water. Leave for a few minutes and when it begins to froth, add it to the flour and mix. Cover and place somewhere warm for 1 hour.
- Tip the dough on to a floured surface and knead until soft - approximately 5 minutes.
- Combine olive oil in a small bowl with the cumin and sumac.
- Heat the hot plate, pull off pieces of dough and flatten between your palms, then place on the barbecue and cook until golden brown. Turn once and brush liberally with the oil.
