Small slider buns are available from delis and some supermarkets. They can be frozen. Sliders are a popular sharing plate at many restaurants.
Sliders
¼ cup | Mayonnaise |
3 Tbsp | Japanese mayonnaise, or Japanese-style dressing |
12 | Slider buns, or dinner rolls (Main) |
3 | Swiss cheese slices, about 30g each, quartered |
250 g | Sliced ham, or use shaved ham off the bone (Main) |
1 | Spring onion, green part only, diced |
Sauce
75 g | Butter, melted |
1 Tbsp | Cumin seeds |
1 Tbsp | Dijon mustard |
1 Tbsp | Shallot, diced |
¼ tsp | Tabasco sauce |
¼ tsp | Worcestershire sauce |
Directions
- Combine the two mayos in a small bowl. Halve the buns and spread with the mayo mixture. Place a slice each of cheese and ham inside each roll. Sprinkle with the spring onion. Place the rolls in a roasting pan just large enough to hold them closely together. The rolls can be prepared to this stage, covered and refrigerated for 2-3 hours.
- Whisk the ingredients for the sauce. Pour evenly over the buns. Stand for 10 minutes for the butter to set slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 180C.
- Cover the buns with foil and bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted. Uncover and cook until the tops are golden. Serve warm. Great served with a salad.
