It is a fast recipe to prepare and to cook and is very healthy and mullet fish is very reasonably priced. I first tried this recipe when a fishing friend gave me a lovely fresh mullet caught that day. The below recipe is for 1 person.
Ingredients
1 tsp | Lemon juice, squeezed |
1 pinch | Salt, ground white |
1 pinch | Pepper, ground black |
1 large knob | Melted butter, 40-60g |
1 whole | Fish fillet, mullet (Main) |
Directions
- Mullet fish x 1 per person (medium size) Wash and dry mullet, remove insides (if necessary). Make several slashes across each side of the fish. Rub well with salt and pepper. Sprinkle lemon juice on fish. Brush with melted butter. Cook under pre-heated grill. Allow 7 to 10 minutes each side depending on size of fish. Turn fish once, brush liberally again with melted butter. Serve at once with lemon wedges and chosen salad or vegetables.
- This recipe was soured from a very old recipe book that my mother had. I no longer have the book, but it was a NZ recipe book. This recipe was written down on paper from the original recipe book. Under ingredient name I have listed 'fish fillet' as there is no whole fish or fish option.
