Very simple and easyrecipe for sausages. All my family love this dish with mashed potatoes and peas, and my friends and family, from grandchildren to grandparents frequently request that I make it. I would say that it's in the 'nostalgia' category - but those are very often good. The recipe can be adjusted to suit the number of mouths you are feeding, just ensure the sausages are sitting out of the gravy so the tops can brown.
Ingredients
8 whole | Sausages, separated and pricked (Main) |
2 large | Onions, Sliced thinly |
1 cup | Standard flour, In plastic bag |
1 tsp | Vegemite, dissolved |
1 cup | Water, Boiling water |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
- Slice onions and lay on bottom of oven dish, Place sausages in the plastic bag of flour (in batches) and shake to cover them in flour, then lay on top of onions. Dissolve Vegemite in boiling water then pour over sausages. Bake in oven turning occassionally (they will brown on the top) about 45 minutes.
