I have had this recipe for 25 years or more and can't remember where it came from. My absolute go-to recipe, no browning so super easy.
Ingredients
½ kg | Blade steaks, or rump steak (Main) |
1 large | Onion |
1 cup | Water |
1 Tbsp | Vinegar |
½ tsp | Salt |
1 Tbsp | Worcestershire sauce |
1 tsp | Mustard |
2 Tbsp | Tomato sauce |
1 Tbsp | Flour |
Directions
- Cut steak into small pieces and put in casserole dish with chopped onions.
- Use the rest of the ingredients to make a smooth paste and pour over meat and onions.
- Put a lid on the casserole and cook slowly (160°C) for at least 2 hours. This dish may also be cooked in a slow cooker. This is the basic recipe but I usually add a Tblsp of lentils and whatever vegetables I have in the fridge like carrot, capsicum, parsnip, celery, mushrooms etc.
