The only cooking happening here is the frying of the bratwurst sausages. Do this gently so that the inside is cooked by the time they are appetisingly browned. Good street food to enjoy at home.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp | Extra virgin olive oil |
6 | Bratwurst sausage (Main) |
6 | Bread rolls, warmed in a hot oven when needed |
75 ml | Dijon mustard |
1 | Baby cos lettuce |
6 small | Tomatoes, sliced |
6 | Gherkins, sliced lengthways |
90 ml | Mayonnaise, a good-quality bought one |
150 g | Sauerkraut |
Directions
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over moderate to low heat and gently fry the bratwurst for 10 15 minutes until browned and hot right through.
- To make one hot dog, spread the inside of a warmed bun with mustard, add lettuce leaves, tomato slices, gherkin slices and a sausage.
- Top with a dollop of mayo and some sauerkraut.
- Repeat for the other five buns.
