Before the days of e mail I participated in a recipe chain letter, and received this recipe for Chocolate Cake. Of course there are hundreds of chocolate cake recipes out there, but this one stands out as it only deliciously moist and dark, but also ridiculously easy. I even used it for my daughter's three tier wedding cake.
Ingredients
2 cups | Standard flour |
2 cups | Sugar |
½ cup | Cocoa powder (Main) |
1 tsp | Baking powder |
2 tsp | Baking soda |
½ tsp | Salt |
2 whole | Eggs |
½ cup | Vegetable oil |
1 cup | Black coffee, Cold |
1 cup | Milk |
1 Tbsp | White vinegar |
1 tsp | Vanilla essence/extract |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line large ring tin.
- Measure dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add vinegar to the milk to sour it. Add eggs, coffee, milk and oil to dry ingredients and mix with balloon mix until smooth. The batter will be very thin.
- Bake 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean. When cool ice with chocolate butter icing or ganache.
