The rich caramel flavour in this shake is reminiscent of a traditional milkshake but is packed full of nourishing ingredients and contains none that take away from your health. The young coconut flesh is essential to the recipe as it gives the shake its creamy taste and the medjool dates give it a caramel flavour and colour. A delicious afternoon tea or snack, this shake is best served icy cold.
Ingredients
1 small | Banana, peeled and frozen (Main) |
1 | Coconut, flesh & water of a young coconut * |
1 pinch | Salt |
1 tsp | Maple syrup |
½ cup | Almonds, soaked in water for 2 hours or overnight and a handful of ice (Main) |
1 handful | Ice cubes |
2 | Medjool dates, pitted |
Directions
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth, leaving a little texture in the drink.
* If you can't get a fresh coconut, use 1/2 cup - 1 cup of store-bought coconut water
