This smoothie is one great way to use oatmilk. The richness of toasted sesame and the umami taste of miso give it not one but two x-factors. Really, it’s that good, and a great illustration of the concept “less is more”. Just like avoidable packaging.
Ingredients
1 cup | Oat milk, or your favourite milk (Main) |
1 | Banana, sweet and ripe, frozen in pieces |
1 tsp | Miso paste, I use Urban Hippie |
1 Tbsp | Toasted sesame seeds |
Directions
- To toast sesame seeds, it's good to do about half a cup at a time. Heat them in a heavy pan on the stove, shaking and stirring every 10-15 seconds. As soon as they get to a nice light brown colour and smell fragrant (about 5 minutes), tip them into a waiting bowl and allow to cool before storing in a jar. They're also great on salads or fruit breakfasts.
- Make the smoothie by blending all ingredients in a blender. Give it about 20-30 seconds to make sure the sesame seeds are fully broken up so they can release their flavour.
