These afghans are a Kiwi classic - this recipe makes 20 biscuits.
Ingredients
200 g | Butter, room temperature |
¼ cup | Brown sugar |
¼ cup | Caster sugar |
1 cup | Self raising flour |
¼ cup | Cocoa powder (Main) |
¼ tsp | Salt |
1 ½ cups | Cornflakes (Main) |
¼ cup | Walnuts, ground |
Directions
- Heat oven to 180C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Cream butter and sugars. Sift in flour, cocoa and salt and gently fold in.
- Fold in cornflakes and ground walnuts.
- Place large tablespoons of the mixture on the baking tray and press down lightly with a fork.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until firm.
- Once cool, top with a chocolate icing.
