The line up of little tarts in the cabinet at Mt Eden’s City Cake Company is pure delight. Owner Tracy Baird has had these cuties in development for quite some time and now, with the recipe just right, she is very proudly presenting them in time for end of year festivities.
Ideal as single serve desserts, these butter-crust tarts are easily ordered online at citycake.com (in multiples of six) or swing by the store where six of the eight flavours are made fresh daily. The hard part is choosing the flavour, which will change seasonally.
Right now lemon meringue, strawberry with creme patisserie, maple snickers, pistachio mousse, banoffee with chocolate, passionfruit creme brulee with a raspberry dot, lime mousse and chocolate tart with belgium chocolate are on the menu plus a Christmas special topped with a very cute gingerbread man.
Made without chemicals, preservatives or colouring, using free range eggs and Belgium chocolate, the tarts will keep fresh for 1-2 days stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
