Healthscope, Australia's second-biggest private hospital owner, appointed Ziggy Switkowski, the former chief executive of Telstra, to its board of directors.
The appointment is the third for Switkowski, 57, since he left Australia's biggest phone company last year.
The appointment is effective immediately.
He has also joined Suncorp-Metway and Tabcorp Holdings.
