Tenby Powell, founder of Hunter Powell Investments, NZ SME business network and chairman of Advaro Finance has added another post to his resumé as chairman of fleet management company Yoogo.
Powell said the venture had arisen through Advaro, which is owned by Maui Capital, deciding to branch into the car rental management industry after it saw a niche for providing "an end-to-end service" using the most recent technology.
"The competitors in this space are mostly large multinationals and while that's fine on the one hand, the opportunity with Yoogo is to create a personalised service and be nimble around a whole range of services and products that we don't believe the others can offer and probably quite frankly don't have the inclination to offer," Powell said.
Yoogo's system included safety reporting and service reminders as well as a support team, and since launching had increased the number of cars it managed to around 3,000 for its 700 or so customers.
Powell's previous business roles have also included being chief executive of Greenlane Biogas Technologies which was last year sold to UK listed company Pressure Technologies for $25 million, as well as director of investment group the Icehouse and Angel Link.
