Marlborough businessman Peter Yealands is planning to open a $25 million winery and produce label wines, according to a report in the Dominion Post today.
Mr Yealands told the newspaper he was planning to build a winery at his Awatere vineyard near Seddon and was preparing a resource consent to build in time for the next vintage.
He said he planned to use the winery to process wine for other businesses as well as his own.
He hopes to get three winemakers on board and have the capacity to process 20,000 tonnes of grapes.
Mr Yealands was last year involved in a drawn out battle with Delegat's Wine Estate for control of Oyster Bay Marlborough Vineyards -- a battle which Delegat's eventually won.
