A wealthy Chinese Aucklander wants to build a Queenstown home with the X factor.
The house - an X-shaped design which gives the appearance of floating in the middle but is subterranean at each end - has been designed by Auckland architects Monk Mackenzie, for Xuehua Mo.
The same firm modernised the city's New Art Gallery for Mr Mo, who goes by the Anglicised name of Frank Mo. It became X Gallery.
X house, planned for Water Race Lane, in the Homestead Preserve of Jack's Point, features six bedrooms all with en-suites, a media room, spa, wine cellar, several balconies and a three-car garage.
''The dwelling is a bespoke high-end design that complements the outstanding natural landscape in which it is set and the architectural qualities associated with Jack's Point,'' the resource consent document said.
