A 58-year-old Auckland women is facing numerous Crimes Act charges after she allegedly spent $1 million belonging to her sister.
The Serious Fraud Office laid 10 charges today against Michelle Roberta Innes in the Auckland District Court.
The charges are for theft, theft by a person in a special relationship, and theft by person required to account, which carry a maximum term of seven years imprisonment.
According to a SFO statement the charges relate Innes' use of over a million dollars entrusted to her by her sister.
The SFO alleges that during the period 2001 to 2008 Innes spent her sister's funds for her own purposes as well as using a Pauanui property owned by her sister as security for mortgages for her own benefit.
