WiMax gains momentum

Thirteen carriers worldwide have thus far deployed fixed WiMax networks, Intel says.

Commercial high-speed broadband networks for businesses and residences have been set up in France, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, the Philippines, Spain, Ireland, Poland, Finland, Guatemala, Ukraine, Austria and Slovakia.

Eleven more carriers - including CallPlus in New Zealand - are preparing to deploy networks by the end of the year, Intel says.
