KEY POINTS:
The Commerce Commission is looking for people who feel they have been scammed by the Australia-based TV text competition company TMG Asia Pacific.
It has received almost 180 complaints from people about unexpected charges appearing on the phones after they have entered the competitions.
Commission Fair Trading Director Deborah Battell said that was an exceptionally high number of complaints.
She said the Commission first raised its concerns with the company in November.
The Commerce Commission is still investigating whether TMG is adequately displaying the terms and conditions of its competitions.
The company has until 4pm on Thursday to respond to the Commission's concerns.
