Fonterra's Australian arm has told the 80 staff at its Wagga Wagga dairy factory in New South Wales it will not be closing down the operation.
Staff were told on Friday Fonterra will be holding on to the business, with a view to future growth, the town's Daily Advertiser newspaper reported.
John Doumani, managing director of Fonterra Australia, has previously said Fonterra was trying to build its "fresh" market by acquiring regional companies and "growing" them.
