US and China reaches trade deal

The US and China have reached a tentative agreement over a cap on clothing exports to the US.

Negotiators have reportedly agreed to raise the allowable US import growth rate for Chinese pants, knit shirts, bras and other items to 10 per cent in 2006 and to about 16 per cent by 2008.
