Exonet reseller Enprise has forged alliances with point-of-sale system developer ALM Systems and customer management software firm Incubator to extend the reach of its core Exonet product.
Enprise is the company original Exonet developer Mark Loveys and fellow executives Leanne Graham and Elliot Cooper formed less than a year ago after a management buy-out of Exonet from Solution 6.
The trio bought the direct support contracts for Exonet's New Zealand customers as the basis for a business selling the software to medium-sized firms.
It has grown from six to 20 staff, and revenue projections for its first year have been revised from $2 million to $3 million.
Loveys said New Zealand companies with wide needs would often turn to overseas packages because they wanted integrated solutions combining core financials and resource management with customer management, point of sale (POS) and other specialised modules.
"While SAP, Great Plain, Navision or whatever may be good products, there is software made here which fits the market better," Loveys said.
"When we tie it together and run it as one product, for a small portion of the price of the overseas system they can have the whole lot and it is acclimatised."
What makes that possible are the methodologies Enprise has developed for managing Microsoft SQL Server databases, so that multiple applications can share the same database in real time.
The alliance with ALM was the result of the companies competing for POS business. Loveys said while Exonet's POS module was suitable for most retail situations and would continue to be sold by Enprise, ALM's Infinity product was able to deal with more complex situations.
The first joint site will be at national bed retailer Back to Bed.
