ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) Britain's ambassador to Algeria says that BP employees evacuated from the country after a spectacular terrorist attack in January will soon return.
Martin Roper was quoted Sunday by the Algerian state news agency as saying that BP is continuing with its activities and so its employees "will soon return to Algeria."
An al-Qaida-linked militant group in January stormed the Ain Amenas gas facility, jointly run by BP, Norway's Statoil and the Algerian state company. In the ensuing standoff, 37 workers, all but one foreign, were killed, along with 29 militants.
Security at the site and others across Algeria's oil-rich desert south has since been dramatically boosted.
