Toyota is recalling more than 150 hybrid Prius cars due to a possible software fault.
The move is part of a worldwide recall of the Prius v Hybrid vehicles, and owners will be contacted through registration data, the company said.
The recall was due to software settings that could result in "higher thermal stress" in parts of a power converter, potentially causing it to become damaged, Spencer Morris, general manager of customer services for Toyota New Zealand said in a statement.
It was not aware of any incidents caused by the condition thus far.
"However our commitment to quality and customer support means we want to ensure all owners of affected vehicles are notified and their vehicle software is updated," Mr Morris said.
