Wellington-based IT consultancy firm Synergy International has won one of the country's most prestigious business excellence awards.
Established in 1992, Synergy International received a progress award this week from the New Zealand Quality Foundation for putting in place quality practices in all aspects of the business.
"Our focus is on quality," said founder and chief executive David Irving. "We don't just pay it lip service, we're entrenched in it."
The foundation is part of a worldwide group that sets international benchmarks for excellence in business. It evaluated seven New Zealand companies before picking three finalists, the others being the Auckland City Council and recruitment company Horner & Partners.
Foundation chief executive Sue Wright said Synergy was granted the highest award because its commitment to excellence was increasingly evident.
Synergy, whose services include business analysis, Website design and project management, grew 92 per cent in the year to last March, with turnover of $12.3 million.
