Timber workers are complaining that they were not consulted over the possible closure of a Carter Holt Harvey plant at Tokoroa.
The company yesterday told workers who operate the Kinleith surfacer - a machine that planes the top and bottom sides of sawn timber - that the plant may close.
Engineering, Printers and Manufacturing Union advocate Megan Jones Mamanu said the company had said for three months that the situation was all right.
"Now there's a month's timber left and we're being told there's no more. They should have consulted us earlier when there was still time to do something."
