Taupo Fletcher plant to expand: Fletcher Challenge Forests plans to spend $2.5 million expanding its Taupo plant, which produces solid timber mouldings for export to the United States.
An additional 21 full-time jobs will be created and the mouldings will ultimately be sold by the two largest home improvement chains in the US, The Home Depot and Lowe's.
The company said yesterday that it regarded the Taupo site as a world-class operation which was therefore capable of competing in the US market.
