New Zealand's top investment regulator has returned from a meeting with its Australian counterpart with a new agreement that will increase their co-operation.
The Securities Commission and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission said yesterday that after a meeting in Sydney earlier this week they had revised their 1994 memorandum of understanding.
The new agreement reflected recent changes to both bodies' regulatory functions and allowed for co-operation and the smooth exchange of information to assist each other, particularly on enforcement matters.
Other issues discussed at the meeting included identification of the most significant cross-border regulatory risks.
